Health: On the Importance of Dance Parties


 
 Today’s post is on the importance of dance parties. 

I know that sometimes I take myself way too seriously. Maybe you do, too. I can get so wrapped up in my weaknesses, my work, myself that my problems become like those dollar store toys that you drop in water and “magically” grow. 

Cue dance music. 

Hard times and problems will come, and weaknesses are unavoidable, so I might as well stop wallowing and start dancing. (Think Napoleon Dynamite and D’Quan’s Dance Grooves.)

It’s good to give thought to what we do and why we do it, but sometimes scrutinizing ourselves and/or our lives too much is not beneficial. In the times when I’m tempted to start down that road in my mind, instead, I grab my Walkman and start jammin’. 

Ha, right. 

But really, creating a playlist of songs you LOVE and then getting’ down with the lamest, but most fun moves you’ve got can help give you the boost you need to get out of a slump. And if you’re worried about other people being seeing (and being jealous of your sweet moves, wink), just invite them to join the party anyway, crank up that Journey album and get yo' Shopping Cart on!
